Dorset Art Weeks is running from the 26th May - 10th June and Hawthorn will be open every day with an exhibition of gallery owner Stephanie Carswell's sculptural needle felted animals. There are over 360 venues taking part in 2012, you can pick up a brochure and a local map from the gallery and start planning your route! Based in the unique Georgian town of Blandford Forum in Dorset, Hawthorn is a contemporary craft gallery and haberdashery showcasing a hand-picked selection of work from the UK's most creative and talented designer-makers, from one-off pieces of jewellery and beautiful prints to ceramics and textiles. Run by sculptural needle felt artist Stephanie Carswell, Hawthorn shows the work of over 35 crafts people and aim to support local makers as far as possible and you will find many pieces made within Dorset and the West Country.

Though we're only small we have a wonderful variety of work on show at very affordable prices. Our stock changes regularly so there is always something fresh and new to see and you're guaranteed to find the perfect gift or treat for yourself that's a little bit different and handmade with love and care.

Our second room behind the gallery is a delight for the senses; packed full of colourful buttons, ribbon, felting supplies and everyday sewing essentials, our Haberdashery will inspire you to create your own masterpieces. If you're looking for something specific please feel free to call before your visit to ensure we have it in stock. We specialise in felting supplies and have a wide variety of wool tops and accessories and can order specific colours or varieties just for you.
